Trafford Care Leavers Offer

Trafford Council offers support to young people who have been in the care of the local authority and now have left as they move into adulthood and start their journey to become fully independent. Known formally as ‘care leavers’, these young people may begin living on their own for the first time or with their friends. This can be an exciting but also challenging time.

We are committed to doing the best it can to help these youngsters make the transition into their new lives as smoothly as possible.

Just because you are leaving care, or have already left care, doesn’t mean we’ve stopped caring about you. Our aim is to make sure that you feel safe and supported and know where you can get help and advice.

We’ve set out in our Care Leavers Offer details of the different help that is available. Some of our existing care leavers have had an input in the content, so we hope it is a useful document.

If you are not sure whether you qualify for any of the support, ask your personal advisor who should be able to help.

You can also contact the our Transitions Team, who deliver our Leaving Care Service, on 0161 912 5050. During out of hours, in an emergency, you can call the Emergency Duty Team (EDT) on 0161 912 2020.
