Home from Home Scheme

Would you like to make a real difference to lives of disabled children and their families in Trafford? Our Home from Home scheme needs people like you to spend time with disabled children, have fun and involve them in everyday activities in your home or in the community.

The children are carefully matched with individuals or families who can meet their needs. The child then visits the same family or individual on a regular basis.

Roles?

We recruit two types of carers; volunteer foster carers and self-employed multi-link contracted foster carers.

Who are the children?

Carers support children aged 0 to 18 years of age. The children have autism, learning or physical disabilities and need opportunities to have fun, meet new people, try new activities and gain independence.

At the same time, their parents have a break from caring, or time to spend with their other children.

Who can provide short break care?

We need all kinds of people. You may be single, have a partner, be young or older, working, retired or unemployed. We welcome carers from all cultural backgrounds and abilities. We require carers with energy and commitment to support disabled children in your home or out in the community.
