Road improvement schemes announced by Council

Trafford Council is informing residents of the essential maintenance work taking place across the borough’s road network over the next two months.

The programme across the next eight weeks consists of around 70 road repair and improvement schemes in many areas of the borough.

These include Hale Road A538; Norris Road, Brooklands, the A56 junction 7 M60; Lulworth Avenue, Flixton; Shawe Road Flixton; Debenham Road/Moss Park Road/Bradfield Road, Stretford and Windermere Road, Urmston.  There are also a number of footway improvements schemes including various locations along Firs Road and the A56 in Broadheath. All schemes are weather dependant and householders will receive a letter ahead of the works.

The One Trafford Partnership are continue to work on the outgoing 2022/23 programme, however 2023/24 highway improvements schemes will begin throughout April and May as we head into the summer months.

With over 500 miles of road network to maintain across Trafford, the programme uses a number of treatment methods depending on the needs of individual roads. Some roads will receive resurfacing and reconstruction treatment which consists of a new surface layer to improve the road condition.

Other roads will receive surface dressing, which is a preventative treatment to waterproof the existing surface and provide additional skid resistance. It will also help to prevent cracks and potholes forming, continuing to keep the road in good condition for years to come.
