Tell us once service

We are now part of the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) 'Tell Us Once' Service. 'Tell us Once' is a free government service that allows you to report a death when you suffer a bereavement and need to tell central and local government.

When someone has died, there are lots of things that need to be done, at a time when you probably least feel like doing them.

Where a death has taken place in Trafford, it must be formally registered with the Trafford Registrar, within 5 days. In addition to registering a death the Registrar will now automatically complete the first stage in the 'Tell Us Once' process.

A unique reference number will be generated by the Registrar to enable you to contact the DWP, either by phone or online, who can then automatically notify all the departments listed below on your behalf.
