Trafford residents urged to 'come and vote on community project funding - first event this Saturday

The time has come for Trafford residents to vote on which of more than 60 local community projects should benefit from a share of £80,000 Council community grant funding.

Once again this year, local voluntary, charity and community groups have demonstrated the strength of community spirit across Trafford, putting forward excellent, innovative and dynamic projects which benefit local people, for consideration.

At four 'Come and Vote' events across the borough during June, the first of which is this Saturday, 10 June, anyone aged 13 or over, who lives, works or volunteers in Trafford, or goes to a school in the area, can vote.

Trafford Council's Corporate Director of Transformation and Resources, Joanne Hyde, said: "This year's projects once again reinforce all that is great about Trafford. These range from community choirs, gardening sessions, creative writing workshops, swimming and activity sessions, and community art projects. Again, competition is going to be extremely high to secure some of this year's funding.

I know that last year's events, which saw over 1200 residents vote for 43 successful groups from across Trafford, were both really exciting and great fun. It would be fantastic to see even more seizing the opportunity to have their say on where this year's money should go.”

The Come and Vote events are being held on the following dates:

Saturday 10June at Eden Square, Urmston, M41 0NA, 11am-1pm AND Partington Sports Village, Chapel Lane, M31 4ES, 11am – 1pm.

Saturday 17 June at Goose Green, Altrincham, WA14 1DW, 11am – 1pm.
