Urmston Library will close at 3pm on Friday 23 December. The library will be open on Wednesday 28, Thursday 29 and Friday 30 December from 10am to 5pm. Normal hours will resume on Tuesday 3 January.

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

Librarian Theatre at Urmston Library, Thursday 15 December at 7pm.

Join Librarian Theatre for a fast-paced re-telling of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at Urmston Library. This new adaptation of the 1843 classic tells the story of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge, reimagined as a female, played by Sarah Ratheram, who is visited by the spirits of her late partner Jacob Marley and of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come.

Tickets are priced £3.50 for adults and can be booked via the Librarian Theatre website. Under 16's are free but still need to book a ticket by emailing info@librariantheatre.com

The show is suitable for families although some scenes may be unsuitable for very young children.

Manchester Shakespeare Company at Urmston Library, Saturday 14 January 2017, 2pm.

Join our hero Willy Whittington as he leaves his home to seek his fortune in London. Helped by the magic of Fairy Liquid and his faithful companion Spot the Cat, Willy gets a job at the Queen Vic Pub where he meets lazy Idle Jack and the cook Sarah Slowcooker and falls in love with Alice the daughter of the bossy boss Peggy Fitzsnugly. But evil lurks on the road in the shape of King Rattus the Third who plans to take over the world!

Can our heroes save the day? Will Good win over Evil? Will they all live happily ever after? There’s only one way to find out!

A free family-friendly, traditional pantomime from the Manchester Shakespeare Company.
