Support brokers
Part of:
Direct payments
A support broker can help you manage your personal budget and the direct payments process.
They can:
- Create a support and spending plan tailored to your needs, so you get the most from your budget
- Help you and your carers arrange care and support services, such as respite, day care, or agency support
- Support you to become a legal and confident employer if you hire a Personal Assistant
- Carry out DBS checks
- Advise on recruitment, training, insurance, payroll and accountancy support when employing your own staff
- Help you and your carers negotiate fees, manage costs, and resolve issues with care providers
A support broker is different to a direct payment broker.
How to access a support broker
You can ask about support brokers as part of your Direct Payments assessment.
The Council can give you details of local approved brokers, or you can choose to arrange support independently.
