The Council must be notified of all non-domestic premises with cooling towers or evaporative condensers.
The purpose of this requirement is to identify sites that could pose a risk of spreading infectious diseases, such as Legionella. It's also to ensure that preventative measures are in place to protect employees and the public.
This is in line with the Notification of Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers Regulations 1992.
After you notify us
Once you have submitted your application form, your details will be placed on the register.
We will acknowledge receipt of the application within 14 days.
Changes to information
You must notify us in writing of any changes to the notification information within one month of the change.
Decommissioned towers
If the cooling tower at your premises has been decommissioned, email environmental.health@trafford.gov.uk.
Refused applications
If your application has been refused, email environmental.health@trafford.gov.uk.
