You can surrender your premises licence or club premises certificate if you no longer want to hold it.
You may need to do this if:
- your business has closed or changed ownership
- the premises are no longer being used to sell alcohol or provide licensable activities
- your club has stopped operating
Once surrendered, the licence or certificate will no longer be valid, and a new application will be required if you wish to resume licensable activities in the future.
Before you start
You should make sure that:
- any outstanding annual fees or payments have been settled. This applies to all annual fees generated before the licence was surrendered.
- the premises are not being transferred to a new licence holder (a transfer must be made before surrendering)
You can contact the Licensing Team if you are unsure whether surrender is the right option.
What happens next
Once your form is received, we will notify the Responsible Authorities and begin the 28-day reinstatement period. During this time, your licence can be transferred to a new licence holder.
You must return a copy of your premises licence to:
FOA Licensing Team, Trafford Council, Trafford Town Hall, Talbot Road, Stretford M32 0TH
