Early Years Pupil Premium
Early Years Pupil Premium (EYPP) gives providers additional funding to support disadvantaged children accessing the early years entitlements.
It is paid at the national rate of £1.15 per hour for eligible children accessing an early education place. This equates to an additional £655.50 for a child receiving the full 570-hour entitlement.
EYPP for looked after children is managed by the Virtual School and passed onto providers through the Personal Education Plan (PEP) process.
Eligibility
Children are eligible for EYPP when they are in receipt of any early years entitlement up to 570 hours, and they meet one of the eligibility criteria listed on GOV.UK.

Eligibility checks
You can check if a child is eligible for EYPP on the Education Portal. You will receive an instant response confirming if they are. This information is also stored in the portal, so you can quickly check who in your setting receives funding.
You should check all children for EYPP eligibility when they start to access a funded place. You can use the parent declaration form to make sure you get the relevant permissions from the child's parent or carer to check.
Claiming Early Years Pupil Premium
You can read guidance about how to claim Early Years Pupil Premium on the portal. This includes how to confirm eligibility for care leavers.
Payments
For private providers, funding due for the term will be paid with the claim payment. For schools, funding due will be paid through the monthly adjustments system.
Spending Early Years Pupil Premium
Funding needs to be spent to meet the individual needs of your children, their families, and your setting.
You will need to demonstrate to Ofsted during your inspection which children were eligible for the funding, how you have spent it, and how it has benefited your setting. The Ofsted inspection will determine if it has been spent effectively.
You can find guidance on how to use the funding effectively on the Early Education website.
