Running an early education business

If you want to set up a nursery, playgroup, out-of-school club or work as a childminder, there are rules you must follow.

You will need to:

• Decide what type of early education business you want to offer
• Complete mandatory training and checks
• Meet health and safety and safeguarding standards
• Get the right insurance
• Research the legal requirements of the EYFS Statutory Framework
• Choose a suitable venue

Register with Ofsted

Most providers must register with Ofsted. You can find out if/when you need to register on GOV.UK.
