The Early Education SEND Support Grant is funding that helps early education providers give additional support so a child from 9 months old can attend their funded early education place.
The grant is based on the child’s needs and is available to school nursery classes and private providers in Trafford, regardless of where the child lives.
The grant is usually awarded for six months on a term-time-only basis. Providers can reapply if the child requires additional support.
What the grant can be used for
The grant is not intended to cover the cost of a one-to-one staffing ratio for the child; however, it may be used as a contribution towards this if needed.
Providers must follow the graduated approach when identifying and meeting a child’s special educational needs.
Many children will make progress through inclusive practice or through additional support already available within the setting.
Application process for providers
Providers must apply for funding. There is more information about how to apply on the Early Years Training Portal.
Parent or carer consent
Parents or carers must give consent before an application can be reviewed by the panel. There are two ways to provide consent:
- The parent or carer completes the online consent form, or
- The provider downloads the printable form for the parent or carer to sign and uploads it with the online application
