Early help and referrals

Family Help in Trafford is about making sure children, young people and families get the right help at the right time. It is sometimes called Early Help or the Stronger Families programme.

What Early Help is

Early Help is support for families before problems become more serious. It looks at the whole family and brings together services that can help.

Support might include:

  • A keyworker who works with you and your family
  • A plan built together, focusing on your strengths and needs
  • Access to the right services at the right time

Who it is for

Families may need Early Help if they are experiencing more than one of these issues:

  • Children missing school
  • Health or mental health problems
  • Unemployment or money worries
  • Conflict or domestic abuse
  • Crime or anti-social behaviour

How to get help

Talk to a professional who already works with your family, such as a teacher, GP or health visitor. They can make a referral for you.

You can also contact Trafford’s Stronger Families team:

Phone: 0161 912 3131

Email: strongerfamilies@trafford.gov.uk

If you are a professional, you should complete the referral form on the Family CAF system or by secure email.
