Report a concern about a child

If a child is at immediate risk of harm, call the Police on 999.

Children’s First Response is Trafford’s single point of contact for anyone worried about a child. You can use it to report concerns, request advice or share information about a child or family.

If you are worried about a child

If you are worried about a child but they are not at immediate risk:

Call: 0161 912 5125 (Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm)

Call: 0161 912 2020 outside office hours (Emergency Duty Team)

You do not need to be certain — if you are worried, it is better to contact us.

What happens next

When you contact us, we will:

  • Listen to your concerns
  • Check our records
  • Decide what support or protection the child may need
  • Take action quickly if a child is at immediate risk

We may contact you for more information. We will keep you updated where possible, but we may not always be able to share full details.
