Our 24-hour Control Room continuously monitors the closed-circuit television (CCTV) in Trafford.
The Police are informed of suspicious incidents when they happen and can be directed to the exact location by our CCTV operators.
Request CCTV footage
You can request that we provide you with a copy of footage from our CCTV cameras.
Requests can only be accepted via our online form. You will be issued a unique reference number (shown at the top of the form).
Fees
Footage release will not be processed until we have received payment.
Requests have an administration charge of £200.00 (+VAT). This is chargeable for all requests to be processed, regardless of whether or not any footage has been captured.
There is no charge for a Subject Access Request under UK GDPR Legislation.
You can pay online, quoting your reference number shown on your form.
Subject access request (SAR)
The Data Protection Act gives you the right to ask an organisation for a copy of the personal data it holds about you. This is called a Subject Access Request (SAR).
You can make a SAR to request CCTV footage of yourself under GDPR, but this is usually not useful for road traffic collisions or civil cases.
If you request your personal data from the Council’s CCTV system, we will provide all the information you are entitled to within the required timescale.
We can only give you footage that shows your personal data. We cannot release images or details of other people or vehicles. If we do provide footage, it will be edited to remove anything that is not your personal data.
To make a request, complete a subject access request form.
