Trafford Mayor’s Cadet of the Year

The Mayor’s Cadet of the Year award recognises the contribution of young people in the Cadet Forces in Trafford. 

The award is open to Cadets aged 14 to 18, but you must not age out before the term of office is complete.

This initiative is part of Trafford Council’s commitment to the Armed Forces community. Trafford has held a Gold Award in the Employer Recognition Scheme since 2019. We also provide extra paid leave for Cadet Leaders and Reservists to complete their training commitments.

How to nominate a Cadet

There are two forms to complete:

Both forms must be submitted by 31 July each year.

Selection process

A panel of councillors and officers reviews all applications in August.

The winning cadet is announced in September.

The cadet, their family and Cadet Leader are invited to Trafford Town Hall to receive a trophy.

Role of the winning Cadet

The Mayor’s Cadet of the Year will support the Mayor at Armed Forces events and civic services throughout the year.
