Free IT support for the elderly or disabled

AbilityNet offers free digital help for disabled and older people, their families, carers, and employers, through their network of volunteers. 

Volunteers are all DBS-checked and are happy to deal with any tech problems you may be having. 

They provide:

  • Home visits
  • Easy guides and videos
  • Help using accessibility tools

Digital support for the visually impaired

Henshaws Digital Enablement Service helps visually impaired people get connected with tech. 

Through assessments and training, their Digital Enablement team are there to find tech solutions regardless of sight level, age, or technical ability.

These may include:

  • Optical or electronic magnifiers
  • Smartphone and tablet devices
  • Specialist text-to-speech devices
  • Accessibility software for desktop computers and laptops

Following an assessment, Henshaws may be able to offer free one-to-one training sessions with one of their staff or volunteers in Sale, Stretford, Oldham, Bolton or Manchester Central Library.
