Activities and events taking place in week 6 of the Summer Reading Challenge.

The Summer Reading Challenge is aimed at children aged 4 to 11, with a mini challenge for pre-schoolers. This year's theme is Read to the Beat!

It's completely free to take part.

Alongside the challenge, there are also many free events and activities taking place across Trafford.

All our events are free of charge and drop-in, unless stated as an Eventbrite booking.

How to join the challenge

Pop into any library in Trafford to sign up. If you are not already a member, you can join the library at the same time.

You can also sign up on the Summer Reading Challenge website, where you can find book recommendations, rate what you've read, and play online games!

How it works

Complete the challenge by visiting the library six times and reading at least one book over the summer holidays. You will receive stickers and other exciting rewards along the way.

You'll also get the chance to come along to one of our fun end-of-Challenge celebration parties.

What you can read

You can read any books you choose, including:

  • fiction books
  • non-fiction books
  • picture books
  • graphic novels
  • eBooks and eAudiobooks on BorrowBox 

Check out the Read to the Beat book collection. The collection is available in our Libraries. You can reserve them on our online catalogue.
