Trafford Assist is the Council’s emergency assistance scheme to help residents with food and fuel.

The scheme helps provide:

  • Financial assistance towards purchasing food;
  • Financial assistance towards emergency gas and electricity.

This should be seen in the majority of cases as one-off emergency fund. It is not and should not be considered as a general top up of benefit or income.

No more than one application per household within a 12 month period will be awarded.

To qualify for help, you must: 

  • be 16 years or over, and
  • be a UK resident, and
  • live in Trafford or be planning to move into Trafford (within the next 6 weeks).

If successful, you will receive a supermarket voucher for food and a Paypoint cash voucher towards fuel.

Before you start, you'll need:

  • Your personal details including national insurance number.
  • Details of anyone living with you.
  • Your email address
  • You may also be asked for details of the money you receive and pay out.
