A new plan for Urmston town centre which will future proof the town as a successful, sustainable and dynamic ‘place’ over the next 15 years is being prepared, and you can have your say on what makes Urmston great and what could be improved.
On 21 March, the first in-person public consultation was held at Urmston Library. The event was well attended, with circa 200 respondents.
For those who could not attend the in-person event, an online consultation is going live on Friday 17 May 2024 and ending on Sunday 2 June 2024 to give you the opportunity to let the council know what you like and dislike about Urmston, and what you think could be improved.

The consultation is an opportunity for the council and their appointed consultants to gather ideas from the local community, which can then inform the new Urmston Plan.
Trafford Council has appointed AEW Architects to lead on the preparation of Urmston Plan and they will be supported by Avison Young, Vectos and CW Studios in creating the vision and plan for the area.
Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration said:
“It is important that local residents and businesses engage as we develop new plans for Urmston Town Centre. We want to ensure that a positive vision for Urmston is created that works for the community and businesses.
“Trafford Council is committed to improving all of our town centres including Urmston. The new Urmston Plan will set a framework for the town centre to meet the needs of residents and businesses now and in the future, and will form the basis to be able to apply for funding when it becomes available. Please do take this opportunity to have your say.”
The Urmston Plan is being developed with funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6 billion of funding for local investment by March 2025. The Fund aims to improve pride in place and increase life chances across the UK investing in communities and place, supporting local business, and people and skills.
