New priorities unveiled by Council so everyone in Trafford can thrive

The best start for children, healthy and independent lives for everyone and building more homes are among the new priorities for the borough unveiled by Trafford Council.

The Council’s new Corporate Plan – Our Trafford, Our Future – sets out the vision for the borough over the next three years.

The ambitious roadmap for the area also outlines how the Council will achieve the aims and measure its successes.

The document details how the council will work with residents, businesses and other partners on its new ambitions while at the same time continuing to deliver high quality services despite the challenging budget pressures it still faces.

Cllr Tom Ross, Council Leader, said:

“This Corporate Plan is just like a map and we will use it to guide our work over the next three years and make sure we are on the right path.

“I have said many times before though, that working together with our residents, partners, businesses and communities will be the key to the success of the plan.”

The new Corporate Plan comes on the back of the successful delivery of the previous one and now has five priorities:

The best start for our children and young people
Healthy and independent lives for everyone
A thriving economy and homes for all
Address the climate crisis
Culture, sport and heritage for everyone

Cllr Ross said:

“As our borough changes, so do our priorities need to change. Our children and families deserve the best support from the very start and that support should be there throughout people’s lives when needed.

“Our ongoing town centre regenerations show our commitment to creating a thriving economy. We also need to make sure our borough is fit for the future. That means building homes so our children and families can remain in the borough.

“Addressing the climate crisis remains a priority and we will work with local businesses to reduce our carbon footprint.

“We also want to harness the amazing talent we have in Trafford. Our culture is something we should be proud of and we want to be able to share that with everyone.”

The new plan also has an updated vision for Trafford – where all our residents and businesses and communities thrive. It was approved by councillors at the full council meeting yesterday.
