Trafford celebrates sixth consecutive year with 11 green flag awarded park
For the sixth year in a row, Trafford boasts 11 Green Flag awarded parks and green spaces.
For the sixth year in a row, Trafford boasts 11 Green Flag awarded parks and green spaces.
The award-winning parks include: Davyhulme Park, Denzell Gardens, Flixton Gardens, Hullard Park, John Leigh Park, Lostock Park, Victoria Park, Walkden Gardens, Walton Park, Woodheys Park, and Worthington Park.
These parks are managed by the One Trafford Partnership, in collaboration with volunteer Friends of Parks groups. Their efforts ensure that the parks consistently meet the standards required for the Green Flag Award throughout the year, these include aesthetics, horticulture, biodiversity, community involvement, historical features, and conservation standards.
Councillor Stephen Adshead, Executive Member for Highways, Environmental, and Traded Services, expressed his delight:
"I am thrilled that Trafford has secured all 11 Green Flag Awards for a sixth consecutive year. The collaborative efforts of One Trafford and Friends have ensured that some of the UK’s top green spaces are right here in Trafford. These spaces are crucial for both community and environmental wellbeing, featuring biodiverse wildflower meadows and improved wildlife habitats."
Councillor Rose Thompson, Executive Member for Communities and Safety, added:
"The success of these Green Flag parks highlights the strong partnerships and collaborative efforts between the One Trafford Partnership, Friends of Parks groups, and the local community. The community's support and the dedication of volunteers allow us to create safe, inclusive, and beautiful spaces for everyone to enjoy.”
