Trafford Council has announced the next stage of its exciting strategy to deliver its vision for Partington Sports Village.
The Council has launched an open market single tender process to appoint a construction company to complete the full refurbishment of Partington’s leisure centre.
The facility, which will be rebranded as move Partington, is part of a wider programme of sustainable improvement and innovation in sports and leisure facilities across the borough.
The procurement process for Partington leisure centre, now closed for refurbishment, will ensure that the Council gets best value for money in supporting the health and wellbeing of local people.
Recently in Partington, as part of a successful Levelling Up funding bid, Cross Lane changing rooms were refurbished to benefit local football teams including women and girls’ squads, and a local boxing club was re-opened. Planning permission for a BMX pump track has been granted and work has commenced.
Plus, two new 3G pitches have been a great success for free, open-access sessions for young people, walking football for older adults and disability sessions for visually impaired people.
They are also providing a home ground for Cerebral Palsy United, Manchester United Foundation, and Partington and Carrington FC.
Meanwhile, the £20m move Altrincham redevelopment is about to open and an ambitious plan for Move Urmston will warm the leisure centre with waste heat from a data centre being built on site.
Applications for the move Partington contract open on 18 August and close on 15 September. You can read more about the Partington Leisure Centre Refurbishment contract online.
