A local authority is continuing to take steps to tackle poverty and address inequality.
Trafford Council is working on updates to its Poverty Strategy and Equality Strategy and is asking residents and people who work in Trafford to shape these strategies.
The Trafford Poverty Strategy will set out the Council’s plans to build a future where fewer people experience poverty and those who do experience poverty are supported.
The Equality Strategy will strengthen the Council’s commitment to promoting equality, diversity and inclusion.
Understanding poverty and inequality starts with listening to those affected. The Council has launched a survey to ask people’s view on the Trafford Equality Strategy and Trafford Poverty Strategy to find out what their priorities should be. The new strategies will run from 2026 to 2030.
Residents will be asked their views on priorities for tackling poverty including access to support and financial help and how the Council should promote equality.
The closing date to take part in the survey is 12 January 2026 and the survey is open to anyone living or working in Trafford.

Cllr George Devlin, Executive Member for Housing and Advice, said:
“Trafford Council is totally committed to doing everything it can to support those people living in poverty, and we are committed to promoting equality. The best way to understand poverty and inequality is to speak with those who are affected so they can share their experiences.
“That is exactly what we intend to do with the launch of the survey on the Trafford Poverty Strategy and Council’s Equality Strategy. The information we gather will then be used to shape our policies on equality and poverty.
“I would urge as many residents as possible to take part – every view is important to us. Thank you.”
