Council supports campaign to end violence against women and young girls

Trafford Council is proud to be supporting a high-profile campaign which encourages men and boys to work together to end violence against women and girls.

The White Ribbon campaign 2025 focuses on the theme ‘We Speak Up’ and urges men to challenge sexist attitudes and harmful behaviour that enables violence against women and girls.

White Ribbon Day takes place on Tuesday, 25 November, 2025 and marks the commencement of 16 Days of Activism against gender-based violence ending on 10 December 2025.

Trafford Council and partners – Trafford Rape Crisis (TRC), Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS) and Talk, Listen, Change (TLC) have a number of events planned throughout the 16 days to support the campaign.

Cllr Rose Thompson, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Safety, said:

“The 16 Days of Activism against Gender-based Violence is a fabulous an important worldwide campaign that highlights the huge issue of violence against women and girls. It is shocking that so many women suffer violence in their lives and we have to do everything we can in our power to stop this for good.

“I am delighted that Trafford Council and partners are working so hard to highlight this massive issue so that women and girls can feel safe wherever they happen to be. I am also calling for more men to come forward and speak up about these issues. Staying silent is not an option. Well done to everyone for all your hard work on this campaign.”
