A fan village on Saturday 13 June promises fun for all the family. The extravaganza includes mini golf, table cricket, inflatable table football, giant games, wheelchair rugby and more. There is also food and drink available, outdoor fun equipment and fairground fun, as well as cricket-themed activities throughout the day.

Cllr Eve Parker, Executive Member for Leisure, Arts, Culture and Heritage, said:

“We’ve got more world class sport coming to Trafford and it’s great that we’re taking those celebrations out into the community.”

“This promises to be a fantastic day for everyone, whatever their age. I would urge all local residents to come and join us for a feast of fun.”

The event, at Stretford Sports Village on Talbot Road, celebrates the ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup.

Five matches take place at Old Trafford including a double header on 13 June when Scotland take on Ireland from 10.30am. That’s followed by a mouthwatering clash between two of the tournament favourites when Australia play South Africa from 2.30pm.

The big games continue on Sunday 21 June when South Africa take on India in another clash of the titans. India then play Bangladesh on Thursday 25 June before Scotland finish off their group games by playing Sri Lanka on Friday 26 June.

Tickets for games will be advertised at the fan village, with residents urged not to miss out on world class cricket action.

Cllr Parker said:

“It’s great to see world class athletes close up. I’m sure the Cricket World Cup will be a great success and will inspire the next generation of cricketers to take up the game.

“Cricket is a really enjoyable game to play. It’s great for finding friends, improving physical health and feeling part of a team.”

The fan village is from 10am to 4.30pm.
