Footballers and BMX bikers enjoy £1m investment in facilities in Partington

Transformed football changing rooms at Cross Lane Park in Partington and a new BMX pump track have been officially opened by Trafford Council after a £1m investment.
Cutting the ribbon at the facilities were Council Leader, Cllr Tom Ross, local MP Andrew Western, Cllr Eve Parker, Executive Member for Leisure, Arts, Culture and Heritage and Cllr Aidan Williams, Executive Member for Climate Change.
The changing rooms, run by Trafford Leisure, feature a new kitchen, showers and a referee's room, have been opened to boost facilities for soccer players in the area.
And the state-of-the-art floodlit BMX pump track features several learn to ride paths with varying levels of difficulty for riders as well as jumps to give youngsters the opportunity to practice and improve their BMX skills.
The improvements are part of multi-million pound plans to redevelop Partington Sports Village and Cross Lane Park to in line with the Council’s sport and physical activity strategy, Trafford Moving. Local residents gave their views as part of a consultation on the plans.

“We are delighted to have officially opened the new changing rooms and BMX track which are a massive boost to the Partington area. The track is already hugely popular with local children – it is packed every evening! The changing rooms will be a big boost to local football teams.
“Trafford Council is committed to helping everyone in the borough enjoy healthy activities like this and to give young people the best start in life. Thank you so much to everyone at the Council and all our partners who were involved in delivering the track and changing rooms in Partington.”
