Hub opens to provide banking facilities for residents

The facility was recommended by LINK, the UK’s ATM network, after a community request and campaigning work by Trafford Council and partners to ensure better access to cash in the Partington area.

The cash hub opened on 9 September and will provide local access to everyday cash and basic banking services for residents - reducing the need to travel to neighbouring banks across the borough.

It is based within the Partington Library and Wellbeing Centre - a Centre for Trafford Live Well - which brings together everyday support such as health, work, housing, community, and library services to local residents. It is part of the GM Live Well movement which brings together Council, the NHS, charities and residents, to work to ensure everyday support is available in every neighbourhood.

The hub was delivered by Cash Access UK, the organisation set up to protect access to cash across the UK, in partnership with the Post Office. The facility has been designed to be fully accessible.

Cllr Rose Thompson, Trafford Council's Executive Member for Housing, Partnerships and Live Well, said: 

"I am delighted that the cash hub has opened in the Partington Library and Wellbeing Centre. Banking is critical to enable people to Live Well and support financial inclusion, and this will allow local residents to access banking services without having to travel elsewhere and will offer face-to-face interaction like you would get in a bank.

"The GM Live Well initiative is all about ensuring that everyday support is available in every neighbourhood across Greater Manchester and this commitment is being rolled out across Partington and Trafford as a whole by working with local communities and creating local partnerships. We are putting in place measures to ensure that Partington - and the remainder of the borough - has the right infrastructure for everyone in Trafford to have the opportunity to Live Well."
