Pre-application advice for heritage sites

We offer an advice service for development that may affect heritage sites. This includes:

  • listed buildings (including curtilage listed structures)
  • conservation areas
  • non-designated heritage assets

You can request advice about heritage sites when you apply for pre-application advice for householders.

Free advice

Heritage advice regarding works to a listed building that require Listed Building Consent and/or planning permission will be given free of charge.

We will also not charge for queries related to:

  • householder Listed Building Consent matters
  • charities
  • community groups

Advice will not be free if the development:

  • requires planning permission within the curtilage of a listed building
  • is a proposed change of use of a listed building

Advice with fees

We offer a 30 minute phone call for heritage advice that would not include planning matters. The cost is £155 (inc VAT).

We offer a one hour site visit for heritage advice for non-major development that would not include planning matters. The cost is £265 (inc VAT).
