What it is
Places for Everyone is the strategic development plan for nine Greater Manchester boroughs, including Trafford. It sets out how the city region will grow up to 2039.
The plan identifies the amount of new housing and employment land needed and where it should be built. It supports Trafford’s Local Plan and helps guide planning decisions on major development.
Trafford’s allocations
Places for Everyone allocates two key growth locations in Trafford, and each site has its own masterplan:
New Carrington – one of the largest development sites in Greater Manchester
Davenport Green – formerly known as Timperley Wedge
Status
The Places for Everyone plan was submitted for examination in 2022. Public hearings took place in 2023 and the Inspectors’ report is expected in 2024.
Once adopted, it will form part of Trafford’s development plan and replace some saved policies in older plans.

Places for Everyone is prepared by the Greater Manchester Combined Authority (GMCA), working with the nine participating councils.
