Most Trafford schools and academies have a catchment area. These schools give priority to children who live within this area.
You can apply for any school, but your catchment area school gives you the highest priority. Make sure you know which catchment you’re in and include that school in your application.
Some addresses fall in a joint catchment area. This means you are in the catchment for all schools in the joint catchment area.
Find your catchment area
This finder is only for non-faith schools. You can find information about catchment areas for faith schools later on this page.
Faith schools
Faith schools may also have a catchment area, usually based on the local parish. Each school has its own admissions criteria, so you should check its individual admissions policy.
You can get details of these catchment areas directly from the schools themselves, or search for your local faith schools using our postcode lookup.
Living outside Trafford
If your child lives in another local authority, you can still apply for Trafford schools. However, you must apply through your own home local authority where you pay your Council Tax.
