Pavement defects
We carry out safety inspections of the adopted highway network to identify defects which may pose a risk of damage or injury to its users. This includes pavements and footways.
We carry out safety inspections and repairs to our pavements on a risk based approach. This is outlined in our Highway inspection policy code of practice for highway safety inspections.
If any damage is not our responsibility, for example, a telecommunications manhole, then we will report this to the responsible company or individual.
For emergency work, we aim to make a hazard safe within two hours before making or facilitating a permanent repair.
