Applications are assessed in line with the convictions' guidance policy and hackney carriage and private hire licensing policy.
If your licence is granted
If you meet all requirements and are considered fit and proper, we will your licence.

Licensed drivers must also accept assistance dogs. If you believe you need an exemption, use the Carriage of assistance dogs exemption application form.
If your application is referred
Some applications must go to the Public Protection Sub Committee. The committee will decide whether to grant or refuse your licence.
Appeals
If the Sub Committee refuses your application, you can appeal. You must appeal within 21 days of receiving the decision.
