Partnership working

Part of: Armed Forces

To help fulfil the pledges in the Covenant, Trafford has an active Armed Forces Partnership. Members include local voluntary organisations, national charities, and organisations providing services to the Armed Forces community.

The Partnership develops support focused on several key areas:

  • Ensuring compliance with statutory duties for housing, health, and education
  • Working closely with the Health Service and other organisations and providing future support to wounded, injured and sick personnel
  • Offering an additional 10 days of paid leave to Council Staff Reservists and Cadet Leaders
  • Providing tailored advice and support through dedicated council officers
  • Offering employment advice to individuals seeking jobs in Trafford

The Council's role

The Council manages and plans long-term support services for the Armed Forces, including resourcing and carrying out short-term joint projects (such as Armed Forces Week).

Trafford Council also assists applicants with the Covenant Grant Scheme, which funds local initiatives designed to strengthen ties between the Armed Forces community and the public.

Joining the Partnership

The Partnership is open to any national Armed Forces Charity, members of the Greater Manchester Armed Forces Group, and any Trafford-based organisations that work with the Armed Forces community.

The group meets to share best practices, support the co-production of services, and provide inclusive support to the community and its partners.

Meetings take place virtually. To be invited to the meetings, email sue.wright@trafford.gov.uk.
