This decision to increase Council Tax was made following consultations with stakeholders, staff and Scrutiny Members on how to fund the budget gap.

We agreed to increase Council Tax by 7.49% for the financial year 2026-27. 

This consists of:

  • 2.99% general increase in the relevant basic amount
  • 2.0% for the Adult Social Care precept
  • 2.5% additional amount agreed by the government following request for exceptional financial support
