If you find a dead animal on council land or the public highway, please report it to us. An officer will remove it as soon as possible.
You can report a dead animal online between Monday to Friday, 8am to 4pm.
Outside these hours, if you find a dead animal on public highway causing an obstruction, call 0161 912 2020. If it's not causing an obstruction, make an online report and we will remove it the next working day.
Dead wild birds
If you find a dead wild bird, contact DEFRA on 0345 933 5577. They may be collected and tested for bird flu or other causes of death.
Collecting animals
We do not offer a free collection service for pets or animals found dead on private property.
Large wild animals and pets (e.g. deer, sheep, fox, badger, swan) can be collected through our bulky waste service for a small charge.
You can dispose of smaller wild animals (e.g. rodents, birds, feral cats) in your grey wheeled bin. Ensure the animal is double-bagged.
Please report rare animals, such as birds of prey and otters, to the Cheshire Wildlife Trust. They may wish to examine the animal before it is disposed of.
