Trees
Trees help make Trafford a great place to live, work, learn, and relax.
Not only do they play an important role in enhancing our quality of life in the urban environment, but trees also improve air quality and limit noise pollution, reduce flooding, and provide habitats for animals and insects.
Tree inspections
Our Tree Management Unit manages, inspects, and maintains all council-owned trees throughout the borough. This includes trees in parks, woodland, highways and other public land.
We replace fallen, felled, and diseased trees on a 2 for 1 basis. Tree work is also carried out as part of our pruning and maintenance programme, which includes:
- Crown thinning and lifting
- Pruning to meet requirements for highway trees
- Removing dead, diseased, and damaged wood
You can find out more about our approach to tree management in our Tree Policy.
Private work
We are only responsible for the management tasks listed, and do not carry out any private work.
Our list of approved arboricultural contractors contains the details of contractors who do private work in Trafford. View the list.
