Discounts and payments
The government offers additional support for making your home more energy efficient in the form of discounts and payments.
The Warm Homes Discount (WHD)
The WHD is a one-off £150 credit to your electricity bill; this is not paid directly to you.
Each utility supplier has their own eligibility criteria, and they will use this to decide who may get the discount.
Check the GOV.UK website for more information about the WHD.
The Winter Fuel Payment
The Winter Fuel Payment is a one-off, tax-free payment made in winter to help with the cost of heating. It's for households with someone over State Pension age who receives a qualifying benefit.
Most people get the Winter Fuel Payment automatically if they’re eligible.

The Cold Weather Payment
You may be eligible for Cold Weather Payments if you’re getting certain benefits or Support for Mortgage Interest.
You will get a payment if the average temperature in your area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees Celsius or below for seven consecutive days.
