The group were handed the fines after appearing in court following the meet at Trafford Palazzo in March 2025.
Greater Manchester Police and Trafford Council launched an investigation was launched to identify those who attended the unauthorised event, which was advertised over social media.
At around 8.30pm on Thursday 13 March 2025, police were called to reports of a suspected illegal motoring event with several vehicles driving in an anti-social manner, on Phoenix Way, Trafford Palazzo. Officers from our Roads Policing Unit arrived at the scene and the vehicles were dispersed. However, the drivers then met-up close to Manchester Airport but were also dispersed by officers attending the scene.
There is a public space protection order (PSPO) in place in Trafford, which means anyone taking part in an unauthorised motoring event or driving in an anti-social manner may be issued with a minimum fine of £100. The attendees of this illegal motoring event were all in breach of the PSPO.
An initial £100 fine was issued to 29 offenders, with a further 17 people each issued fines ranging from £408 to £1,780, totalling to £14,921 between them.
Chief Inspector Michael Parker from our Roads Policing Unit, said:
“Following a thorough investigation by our officers in partnership Trafford Council, we have now successfully brought positive action against the attendees of this unauthorised motoring event which took place in March.
“It is dangerous and unacceptable to drive in an antisocial manner and puts residents at risk. I hope these fines send a clear message that we will not tolerate those who disregard the safety of others. We will find you and we will take action.”
Cllr Rose Thompson, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Communities and Safety, said:
“We will not tolerate this kind of behaviour in our borough and my thanks goes to Greater Manchester Police for arresting those responsible. These car meets are extremely dangerous and a huge risk to our residents.”
