Bus passengers visiting Dunham Massey Hall and Gardens will soon benefit from better drop off and pick-up points thanks to improvements by Trafford Council.
Bus passengers visiting Dunham Massey Hall and Gardens will soon benefit from better drop off and pick-up points thanks to improvements by Trafford Council.
Work, funded by Transport for Greater Manchester, will take place to make the two bus stops at the entrance gates on Woodhouse Lane safer and more accessible.
The stop opposite the entrance to the park will be moved 120 metres to the east, for improved visibility while crossing the road. A higher kerb will be created to help with getting on and off buses, and a new dropped kerb will provide an accessible road crossing point.
The bus stop directly outside the entrance to the National Trust-owned attraction will also have a higher kerb and a dropped crossing with tactile paving in front of the gates to the grounds.
The work is part of a programme of bus stop upgrades funded by TfGM to improve access to public transport, as part of the Bee Network.
Cllr Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Highways, Environmental and Traded Services, said:
“We are pleased to be working with TfGM to encourage people to use our fantastic public transport network with improvements such as these which can make a big difference in ensuring people have a good experience taking the bus. This ties in with Council priorities to address climate change and facilitate healthy and independent lives.”
