Free health checks and guidance for HIV Testing Week

Trafford residents can access free sexual health support at two community drop-in sessions taking place in the borough as part of Greater Manchester HIV Testing Week.

Running from 24–30 November, the campaign raises awareness of HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and encourages people to get the information, support and testing they need to stay healthy.

In Trafford, the Greater Manchester PaSH (Passionate about Sexual Health) Partnership will host two drop-in sessions at The Limelight Centre, 1 St Brides Way, Old Trafford.

PaSH reports a 30 per cent rise in heterosexual men and women diagnosed with HIV in England since 2022. HIV Testing Week aims to reverse this trend by increasing awareness, encouraging regular testing, and supporting the ambition to end new HIV transmissions within a generation.

Trafford Council’s Director of Public Health, Helen Gollins, said:

“We are pleased to support this important initiative and would urge residents to make use of these free sessions. If you have concerns about your sexual health, getting tested is the best step you can take. Early testing helps protect you and others.”
