The Connect 5 programme is now open to public sector staff, volunteers, and anyone who regularly speaks with members of the community. The training aims to build the skills and confidence needed to have effective, supportive conversations about mental health.

The sessions are run by Mind in Salford and feedback from recent courses has been positive, with people praising the straightforward approach.  Here’s what they said:

“Really informative content… knowledgeable trainers who created a supportive environment.”

“Great group discussions and open forum.”

“Really welcoming and engaging trainers.”

“The session was an enjoyable way to learn.”

Connect 5 is delivered across three modules, each around 3 to 3.5 hours long. Sessions are held in person at Trafford Town Hall or Sale Waterside.

The latest dates for the first module have now been released:

  • 10 December 2025
  • 15 January 2026
  • 21 January 2026
  • 22 January 2026
  • 27 January 2026

Cllr Jane Slater, Executive Member for Healthy and Independent Lives, urged people to take up the opportunity. She said:

“Good mental health is fundamental to the wellbeing of our communities, and we want people across Trafford to feel confident having open, supportive conversations when someone is struggling. Connect 5 is a high-quality, practical programme that gives our workforce and volunteers the tools they need to make a real difference. I am proud that we are working in partnership with Mind in Salford to offer this free training.”

Places on the programme are limited, and early booking is encouraged.
