Trafford Council’s Executive Committee has agreed to make a piece of land available for a multi-purpose community centre and sports hall plan.
Members have agreed in principle that not-for-profit charity the Three Meem Foundation can lease land at Goodwood Field, off Firsway and Manor Avenue with a view to building the 1,500 square metre facility with car parking.
Planning permission has not yet been granted for the scheme, funded by Three Meem. Community consultation will be carried out to gather the views of local people before a planning application is submitted to the Council.
Plans are for the centre to be inclusive and open to everyone. New changing rooms would be provided for the existing playing field and football pitches.
Three Meem is well established in the local community and currently works from a number of different facilities, which the charity wants to bring together under one roof.
