The animals at Pets’ Corner will be going on their holidays and temporarily leaving their enclosures on December 19 to allow for their Longford Park home to be refurbished and upgraded.

The two goats, chickens, and ducks will be leaving the site for farms in Cheshire while work takes place to build their enclosures, fencing, protective coops, and new soft landscaping.  The animals are due to return to their newly renovated home in spring 2026.

The work is part of the large-scale upcoming planned regeneration of Longford Park.

To support Pets’ Corner further, a Festive Fundraiser has been organised at the site on December 13, 2025. Everyone is invited and, those attending, will be the given the opportunity to meet the animals, make a Christmas card for the animal competition and enjoy alcohol free mulled wine and mince pies. The fun starts at 12pm.

Cllr Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Highways, Environmental and Traded Services, said:

“Pets’ Corner is a fantastic facility which is hugely popular with both residents young and old who visit the park. Children have been coming along to Pets Corner for decades to meet the beautiful animals, and I am delighted that it is being upgraded as part of the park improvements.

“Please find the time to pop along to the fundraiser on December 13 to help raise some cash for the new-look Pets’ Corner. It’s a lovely place to take the children all year round – but especially nice at Christmas time.”
