Longford Park: People, Place and Nature Project

About the project

Trafford Council will deliver £6m of improvements to the features and facilities of Longford Park, thanks to support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund and the players.

The project will restore, reconnect, and improve the existing features and facilities of this historic park.

The works will:

  • Improve access for all ages and abilities
  • Enhance play, recreational, and sports facilities
  • Improve the park’s biodiversity and resilience to the impacts of climate change
  • Regenerate The Long Barn into a sustainable, energy-efficient community space
  • Ensure the park continues to be central to the local community

Longford Park is the largest park in Trafford and is in a designated conservation area. It was previously the site of Longford Hall, home of John and Enriqueta Rylands.

Improvements will respect and reimagine the former Longford Hall footprint, formal gardens, kitchen gardens and designed park landscape. Celebrating the Park’s heritage is central to the project.

You can find a full list of facilities at Longford Park online.
