Steph's strength inspires One Trafford to make a difference

One Trafford has proudly supported a meaningful community initiative for Steph, a Trafford resident living with a terminal illness, by helping improve access to her home.
Steph was diagnosed with gastroparesis seven years ago - a rare and debilitating condition that severely affects her mobility.
After arranging for a vehicle crossing, she reached out to One Trafford for advice on creating a suitable parking space within a limited budget at her Stretford home.
Moved by her determination and resilience, the One Trafford Streetworks team visited Steph to offer guidance. Recognising the physical challenges she faced, they offered to contribute their time and labour as part of a community initiative.
By the time support was confirmed, Steph and a friend had already begun preparing the area. One Trafford stepped in to complete the hardstanding, transforming the space into a safe and accessible parking area that has made a meaningful difference to her daily life.
“This parking space has made things easier - getting out of the car, bringing in groceries, and just feeling more independent,” Steph said. “It’s been a long and difficult journey. Things like this don’t usually happen to me, so I’m incredibly grateful.”
Ian Elliott, Streetworks Manager at One Trafford, added:
“When we heard Steph’s story, we knew we wanted to help. Her courage and determination were truly moving, and we’re proud to have played a small part in making her life a little easier.”
This project reflects One Trafford’s ongoing commitment to supporting the local community. While this was a unique case, residents are encouraged to continue using the usual channels for requests.
