The Mayor of Trafford has ended her year in office by providing a beautiful parting gift to the borough's parks, gardens, and green spaces.
Cllr Jane Brophy has spent part of her mayoral fundraising to purchase hydrangea plants (from Chris Walker plants in Altrincham) which were handed over to appreciative friends of parks representatives over the bank holiday weekend.
Cllr Brophy, who spent her year in office raising money for good causes including Trafford's parks personally handed over the plants to representatives from the parks and green spaces.

Cllr Brophy said:
“Supporting Trafford parks and our green spaces throughout my Mayoral fundraising year has been very important to me. Green spaces make a real difference to our physical health and mental wellbeing — they give people places to walk, meet, reflect, and connect with nature. They are also vital for biodiversity, helping wildlife to thrive and strengthening our resilience to climate change.
“I also want to recognise the remarkable contribution of volunteers. Across Trafford, volunteers give their time, energy, and care to protect and improve our parks, community spaces, and environment. Their commitment helps make Trafford a healthier and more connected borough for everyone.”
Environmental volunteers from across Trafford give their time to work with the Councils’ green space teams to improve their local areas, making them welcoming and vibrant.
Shelly Quinton-Hulme, Chairperson from The Friends of Trafford Parks and Green Spaces, said: "This was a wonderful gesture from the Mayor.
“Thank you so much to Cllr Brophy for these wonderful plants that will hopefully live in our parks for many years to come. May we also say a big thank you to the Mayor from everyone connected to Trafford's parks and green spaces for her incredible fundraising efforts throughout the year."
