A council worker has been awarded the MBE in recognition of a career dedicated to helping others and protecting people in challenging circumstances.
Mo Osman, Principal Facilities Officer in Trafford Council's Development and Estates team, was awarded the honour for Services to British Interests Overseas in his previous role.
Before joining Trafford Council, Mo worked overseas for the UK Government in roles focused on safety, security and supporting people through difficult situations. His work often took place behind the scenes, helping individuals, families, and colleagues stay safe during periods of uncertainty and crisis.
Mo built a reputation for calm leadership, compassion, and always putting people first and those who worked alongside him have spoken of his courage, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to helping others, often in some of the most demanding environments imaginable.
Receiving the award was a proud and emotional moment for Mo, who is quick to recognise the many people he worked with throughout his career. While honoured by the recognition from His Majesty The King, he says the greatest reward has always been knowing that his work helped make a positive difference to people's lives.
Mo said:
"I have been incredibly fortunate to work alongside some remarkable people throughout my career. While this recognition means a great deal to me, what matters most is knowing that, together, we helped keep people safe and supported others through difficult times.
"Looking back, I think about the families who stayed together, the people who made it home safely, and the lives that were made a little better. That is what makes me proudest."
Everyone at Trafford Council is delighted to see Mo receive this well-deserved honour and is proud to have him as part of the Facilities Management team.
