School presented with computers thanks to Council

St Matthew's CE Primary School in Stretford was presented with several refurbished computers by Trafford Council as part of its campaign to tackle digital exclusion in the borough.

As part of the Tech4All Community Desktop programme, the Council teamed up with Community Computers to refurbish high quality computers generously donated by partners in the private sector. 

These computers are given a second lease of life and given to local organisations, where they can make a real impact to lives in Trafford.

The Council, which has made giving children the best start in life a corporate priority, is signed up to the Local Digital Declaration in a commitment to make service delivery more efficient and make digital access easier for residents.

Hazel Kindley, Trafford Council's Digital Inclusion and Partnership Manager, went along to the school on Poplar Road in Stretford to meet the children and to ask them about their new computers.

Ms Emma Tyrer, Deputy Headteacher, said: 

"The school has a shortage of computers, so we were delighted when Trafford Council approached us with the offer of additional equipment. These devices have had a huge impact on our school, allowing us to offer more child-led provision that better supports learning, especially for our students with additional needs. We thank the Council for their ongoing support."

Cllr Liz Patel, Trafford Council’s Executive Member for Economy and Regeneration, said: 

“The Council's Tech4All Community Desktop programme has been a huge success and I am delighted to see that we are again providing computers to those who need them most. It is very important that all students throughout our borough are able to get online to help with their schoolwork. I would like to say a huge thank you to all of our partners for their support.”
