The Public Hall, one of six community hubs across Trafford which is supported by Trafford Council, is proud to be joining in with the Million Acts of Hope initiative.

The national initiative, taking place from 13 to 20 May, celebrates the everyday acts of kindness, care and connection happening across the UK at a time when division can feel like a huge issue.

The campaign aims to bring together all these everyday acts of hope and shine a light on the people and communities making them happen.

Throughout the week, volunteers, staff and visitors were invited to share what makes them feel hopeful and grateful - and a Tree of Hope made up of hundreds of messages, was laid out on the ballroom floor. Messages included 'Love', 'Family', 'Peace', and 'Together'.

Emma Finn, Hub Coordinator, said:

"In these times of division, we wanted to bring the love to Stretford by sharing notes from local M32 people about the things that give them hope and what they are grateful for. These messages formed a tree across the ballroom floor for everyone to see on 'Together Tuesday.'"

Cllr George Devlin, Executive Member for Housing and Advice, said:

"I am delighted that Stretford Public Hall has taken part in the Million Acts of Hope initiative. And what a fantastic response they have had from the community with all the messages received. We are living in uncertain times and this event has pulled us together and helped to give us all hope. Well done to everyone involved."

On Tuesday 19 May, the Hub's 'Together Tuesday', residents were also invited to share a community “stone soup”, inspired by the idea that small contributions can create something wonderful together. Staff brought in different vegetables, and the brilliant volunteer Hazel turned them into a delicious soup for everyone to enjoy.
